We are constantly in a process of learning and self-reflection in environmental, social, and societal matters. Today, there is no need to look far to adopt eco-responsible practices in daily life. Every small action, even if it may seem insignificant, is a treasure for tomorrow. We try to make a difference at our level; this is a daily commitment from our entire team.

We are aware of the privilege of living here, in Parentis en Born, in the northern part of the Landes and on the Landes coast:

In a region where we can enjoy the vastness of the Landes forest, hundreds of kilometers of bike paths, and a natural beach that stretches for miles;
In a region that is free from pollution, traffic congestion, mass urbanization, and illegal dumping into the environment… at least for now;
In a region where we hear birds and cicadas singing with no background noise, and when we look up, the stars appear without light pollution;
In a region with a vibrant life, a soul, a history, a gastronomy, authenticity, a local culture, and a unique terroir…

We wish to share this region with you at CAMPING CALEDE.

We manage this site in a world where Sustainable Development is often just a wishful thought, but very modestly, and at our level, we commit ourselves, in compliance with legal requirements, with the following guiding principles:

Initiatives

Do you enjoy Landes Flower Honey? A dozen beehives have been installed in the nearby forest, and the campsite is now a partner of honey producer Le Rucher d’Esleys. The honey produced is available for sale at the campsite reception or at a stand at the local market in Parentis en Born every Thursday and Sunday in July and August (https://facebook.com/lerucherdesleys).
In 2024 and 2025, Camping Calède supports the “Chez Les Landais” movement to represent our beautiful department at the Salon de l’Agriculture in 2025! To help them participate, find their products for sale at Camping Calède reception. “Chez Les Landais” . Together, let’s showcase the Landes region!

In recent years, we have been addressing food waste: vegetable peelings and other scraps are part of our daily anti-waste efforts. Our pigs, located on the neighboring land to the campsite, are our daily actors in this mission. As a reward, think about taking home a jar of homemade pâté made from our pigs, which help recycle our waste.
In 2025, Camping Calède will be a pilot site for a composting solution , becoming an ambassador for positive actions on the management of organic waste in tourism, participating in an innovative and virtuous process: sorting and recycling organic waste in tourism. This experimental project is supported by the Interfilière of Sustainable Tourism in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (UNAT NA – UMIHNA – NAHPA), ADEME Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, and the Compost Citizen Network in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

WHY?
Since January 1, 2024, all producers of organic waste are required to sort and recycle the organic waste produced by their activity. This includes tourism professionals.
The benefits of managing organic waste are numerous:

For the business: reduced grey bin waste, cost control, improved image, awareness and education, and the recognition of team efforts…
For the environment: healthier soils (composting), less greenhouse gas emissions when using biogas (methanization), and fewer waste materials buried or incinerated…

HOW?
Composting on-site at Camping Calède: Our customers place the contents of their bio-bucket in a collection bin, adding dry matter from the second bin. The third bin ensures the compost matures before being spread. This is the traditional composting system, where the tourist plays a role in the compost production.

Holidays at Camping Calède also mean soft mobility and respect for the environment! 🌿 We encourage our visitors to choose more ecological means of transport to reach Parentis-en-Born and to get around during their stay. Train, carpooling, bicycle… every small action helps preserve the exceptional natural surroundings of the Landes. Once at the campsite, leave the car aside and enjoy the cycling paths, walks around the lake and short bike rides to discover the region at a relaxed pace. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, breathe in the fresh pine air and enjoy more responsible holidays while fully experiencing the beauty of our region. 🚲☀️
